Ordinary life

It’s been some time since I’ve posted.

I swear I have not been ignoring those of you who take the time and effort to stop by for a read. It was neither intentional neglect, nor innocent oversight. Rather, just the natural order of things.

Life here on the North Fontanelle 40 (I just came up with that) has, indeed, pretty much gone on as usual. In the last few weeks —

My camera and I went to the Nichols Farms Bull Sale. I write about beef cattle, I don’t breed them, but the future genetics of the U.S. beef herd looked pretty good to me.

I made some new friends at a Farmers Market conference. And picked up a new seed catalogue.

Checked out a SW Iowa art gallery for a Farm Bureau story. Pretty cool.

Finished off some left-over lasagna – and by left-over, I mean frozen since Christmas.

Worked on the town’s 4th of July plans.

Wrote a major piece for Drovers/CattleNetwork that involved five sources from three countries and three states. I’ve always been time zone challenged (as Melinda Mackey at KSIB will attest). The past few weeks have been just this side of a double-toothpick scenario.

Watched “The Slap” on TV. That will be interesting.

I survived Friday the 13th relatively unscathed. (Past history had me skeptical) I had several positive communiqués, and was even able and willing to comply with a couple of requests. Got some writing done. Took in some last minute ad work for Sheep Industry News.

Really liked a bottle of wine I bought on chance awhile back. Stark Raving Cab. The name caught my eye.

All in all, it was a very good day – until I managed to make a mess of my supper (not the cooking of, the eating of). No, it wasn’t the wine. Yet. Rather, just the natural order of things.

Now on to the week ahead. More projects. More time zones. Maybe a little more wine, and if we’re both lucky, another blog post.

Today is Valentine’s Day. Share the LOVE!
